Ruguru Ngandori and Mbeti North Ward

In a heartfelt show of solidarity and compassion, Hon. Gitonga Mukunji, Member of Parliament for Manyatta Constituency, joined grieving families, friends, and community members on Saturday for the burial ceremonies of two respected residents from Embu County.

The day began at the Itabua home in Mbeti North Ward, where mourners gathered to pay their final respects to the late Alex Njenga Njiru. Alex, a vibrant and industrious young man, was remembered for his unwavering dedication and work ethic during his tenure at the Embu Water and Sanitation Company (EWASCO). His untimely demise left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him, particularly colleagues and peers who described him as a reliable and focused professional.

Hon. Mukunji, while addressing the mourners, praised Alex’s contribution to community development through his service in the water sector.

“Alex was not just a young man with a job—he was a young man with a purpose. His commitment to improving water services in our county was evident in his work,” the MP said.
He offered words of comfort to the bereaved family and encouraged the youth to emulate Alex’s sense of responsibility and drive.

Later in the day, Hon. Mukunji proceeded to Matiru Village, Ruguru Ngandori, for the burial of John Gitonga Rutere Ndogo, another beloved member of the community. Friends and relatives described John as a man of quiet strength, humility, and a dependable presence in the village.

Hon. Mukunji, in his tribute, spoke of the importance of unity in times of loss and the value of remembering the lives and lessons of those who have passed on.

“As a community, we are here to stand together, not just in times of celebration, but more so in times of grief. John Gitonga leaves behind a legacy of kindness and respect that should inspire us all,” he said.

The MP reiterated his commitment to supporting families in times of need and emphasized the importance of community-based support systems, particularly in addressing challenges faced by youth and elderly citizens.

As the sun set over the rolling hills of Manyatta, the community laid to rest two of its own—each remembered for their unique contributions to society. Though gone, their impact continues to be felt in the lives they touched.

May their souls rest in eternal peace.
