In a major step towards empowering youth with digital skills, Hon. Gitonga Mukunji has officially presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for a Centre of Excellence Digital ICT Hub (Jitume) at Manyatta DCC Grounds.

This initiative, spearheaded by the Government through the Ministry of ICT and NGCDF Manyatta, positions Manyatta Constituency among the first 20 constituencies in the country to benefit from the establishment of a digital hub, reinforcing Kenya’s commitment to equipping its youth with 21st-century skills.

A Game-Changer in Digital Empowerment

The Jitume ICT Hub will be a fully-equipped facility featuring:
200 modern computers
A dedicated trainer to provide ICT instruction
Technical support staff for continuous assistance

The center will offer free digital skills training and access to online work opportunities, enabling young people to explore careers in freelancing, e-commerce, and remote employment in the growing digital economy.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Mukunji hailed the project as a game-changer for youth empowerment in Manyatta.

“This ICT hub will open doors for our youth to acquire essential digital skills and tap into global online job markets. With 200 computers and trained professionals on-site, we are creating a platform where young people can learn, innovate, and earn a living through digital work,” he stated.

Manyatta Leading the Digital Transformation

Manyatta is privileged to be among the first constituencies selected for this cutting-edge facility. The government’s commitment to constructing one digital ICT hub per county underscores the national agenda of bridging the digital divide and fostering economic growth through technology.

The hub will focus on key areas such as:
📌 Basic and advanced digital literacy training
📌 Freelancing and online job opportunities
📌 E-learning and access to global education resources
📌 Entrepreneurship and innovation support

Hon. Mukunji encouraged the youth to take full advantage of the center once completed, emphasizing that digital skills are the future of employment and economic empowerment.

“We must prepare our young people for the opportunities of the digital world. This hub will not only provide them with ICT knowledge but also give them access to online jobs, reducing unemployment and creating a self-sufficient workforce,” he added.

Looking Ahead: A Digital Revolution in Manyatta

The construction of the Manyatta Digital ICT Hub is expected to be completed in record time, with full operations set to begin soon. Once launched, it will serve as a training and resource center for students, job seekers, and entrepreneurs eager to leverage technology for growth and employment.

As the digital economy continues to expand, the Jitume initiative is set to transform Manyatta Constituency into a hub of technological innovation and economic progress, preparing local youth for global opportunities.

Hon. Mukunji reaffirmed his commitment to advancing digital literacy and youth empowerment, assuring residents that this is just the beginning of a tech-driven revolution in Manyatta.
