Electricity Update: Makumbiri Village Project Nears Completion

Residents of Makumbiri Village in Gaturi South Ward are on the brink of accessing reliable electricity, thanks to the ongoing electrification project spearheaded by Hon. Gitonga Mukunji. The much-anticipated initiative, which was promised by the Manyatta MP, is now nearing completion, with the transformer already installed and only the final commissioning and issuance of meters remaining.

The project is being funded by the Manyatta National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) through the Matching Fund program in collaboration with the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC). This partnership has been instrumental in expanding electricity access to underserved areas, aligning with the government’s broader vision of enhancing rural electrification.

Hon. Gitonga Mukunji has reiterated his commitment to ensuring that Manyatta is progressively lit up, village by village, with Makumbiri being one of the latest beneficiaries. This electrification project is expected to bring significant socio-economic benefits to the community, including improved business opportunities, enhanced learning environments for students, and better security within the area.

With Makumbiri Village set to receive power soon, the focus will now shift to the next village in line for electrification. Residents have expressed their gratitude for the initiative, highlighting the transformative impact it will have on their daily lives.

As the project reaches its final stages, stakeholders are eagerly awaiting the commissioning, marking yet another milestone in the journey toward universal electricity access in Manyatta Constituency.
