Hon. Gitonga Mukunji has reaffirmed his commitment to agricultural development as the Kibugu-Nguviu irrigation water project nears completion, now standing at an impressive 95%. This transformative initiative, fully funded by the National Government through the Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation, is set to benefit 662 farmers, providing them with a reliable water supply to enhance productivity.

Hon. Mukunji emphasized that this project is a testament to the government’s commitment to uplifting the agricultural sector by ensuring small-scale farmers have the necessary resources to thrive. “This is a game-changer for our farmers. With a steady water supply, we expect increased yields, better quality produce, and improved livelihoods for our people,” he stated.

Beyond the Kibugu-Nguviu project, Hon. Mukunji reaffirmed his dedication to securing additional funding to expand other irrigation water projects across Manyatta Constituency. “We are actively pushing for more irrigation initiatives to ensure that all farmers have access to water, which is a key driver of agricultural success. Our goal is to transform Manyatta into a model of sustainable farming,” he added.

Local farmers have expressed their appreciation for the project, noting that access to reliable irrigation water will not only enhance their agricultural productivity but also reduce dependency on unpredictable rainfall patterns. With this initiative, Manyatta Constituency is set to witness a surge in agricultural output, reinforcing the government’s commitment to rural development and economic empowerment.
