In a significant step towards enhancing security in the region, Hon. Gitonga Mukunji has officially launched the construction of an armoury at Gatituri Police Post. This project is part of a broader initiative to meet the operational needs of the police station, in accordance with the guidelines set by the Kenya Police. Along with the construction of the armoury, there will also be an expansion of the report office to ensure improved functionality and efficiency.
The Gatituri Police Post, which was constructed in 2019, has not been operational until now. The lack of proper facilities and infrastructure has hindered the station’s capacity to serve the local community effectively. The construction of the armoury is a crucial step in equipping the police post to handle security concerns in the area. This is especially important given the growing need for law enforcement presence in the region.

The decision to expand the report office and build the armoury comes after extensive consultations between Hon. Mukunji and the National Police Service. During these engagements, it was agreed that once the construction is completed, police officers will be deployed to the station to ensure the efficient delivery of security services to the people of Gatituri and surrounding areas.
This development comes at a time when there have been increasing calls from the local community for improved police presence and enhanced security infrastructure. The expansion of the police post is expected to not only address the current security challenges but also contribute to the overall strengthening of law enforcement in the region.
Hon. Gitonga Mukunji expressed his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the area. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and local law enforcement in creating safe environments for businesses and families to thrive.
“The safety of our citizens is paramount. This project will not only improve police services but also reassure the community that the government is dedicated to protecting them. Once completed, the Gatituri Police Post will play a pivotal role in maintaining law and order in our constituency,” said Hon. Mukunji.
Once the construction is complete, the National Police Service will work towards the full operationalization of the police post, with plans for additional officers to be stationed at the facility. The expanded station will be equipped to handle a range of services, including crime reporting, investigations, and emergency responses.
The ongoing construction is expected to be completed in the coming months, and the local community eagerly awaits the reopening of the police post to enhance security in the area.
Moving Forward
With the armoury and report office expansion, the region’s security will undoubtedly see an improvement. The engagement between local leadership and the National Police Service highlights the growing recognition of the need for adequate resources and infrastructure for law enforcement to operate effectively.
Hon. Mukunji’s initiative serves as a critical milestone in enhancing the region’s security infrastructure and improving the overall safety and well-being of residents. It also reflects the government’s commitment to responding to the needs of local communities and prioritizing security as a fundamental aspect of development.
